0009344: One-click spreadsheet view of selected elements
After performing a selection, it is common to want to see the field values of that selection. Doing so requires a long series of clicks (split view, show spreadsheet, view data, show only selection) that is annoying to experienced users and non-intuitive to newbies. There should be a toolbar button that, when clicked, will immediately show the field values of the selected elements.

Functionality supported by Find Data instead.

That's partially true. Find Data shows the selection results in its dialog box only when Find Data was actually used to create the selection. If you, say, select surface polygons in a 3D view and then open the Find Data dialog, the spreadsheet there is blank.

I still agree that this bug should be closed. However, I really feel that Find Data should show the current selection in its spreadsheet regardless of how it was created (as described in bug 0010962).

Agreed. With bug number 10962, this bug is fulfilled in the Find Data dialog.
