Summary | 0012359: Can't run VTKAVIWRITER - Unable to compress avi file
Description | I got the same error message when trying to save an animation. I am running ParaView Version 3.10.1 64-bit on windows 7. Here is the error message: ERROR: In ..\..\..\..\source\VTK\IO\vtkAVIWriter.cxx, line 172 vtkAVIWriter (000000000B7E0DC0): Unable to compress N:\images-ucsd\traumatic-brain-injury\Subjects\Burin2011-03-03\vis\Burin-02.avi I have the CVID codec installed in Windows Media Player Version 12.0.7601.17514 ICM Cinepak Codec by Radius cvid iccvid.dll 1.10.0.13 I searched for "iccvid.dll" on my system and found 4 copies in various folders. C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-vcm-core-codecs_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_6eaa2afd36b1e303\ ... C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-vcm-core-codecs_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_6c79173539c35f69\ I used to be able to save animations with an older version of ParaView Version 3.6.2 running on WindowsXP. So, I'm guessing it's an issue with Windows 7 compatibility. http://www.paraview.org/pipermail/paraview/2011-April/020797.html [^]

I have also experienced this same problem (Windows 7 64-bit OS) with the 64-bit version of Paraview. After installing the 32-bit version of Paraview I was able to export (and therefore compress) the AVI file. With more searching it apprears that the CVID codec is 32-bit only (so, it may show as on the hard disc, but only as a 32-bit codec). |
