I also tried to use Paraview in order to read Tecplot data (see the
question I asked on Feb, 4 :
Richard is right about the readers in version 3.98. There are indeed 3
of them : "Tecplot Files" (ASCII) is the original one I guess, and there
are also the "VisIt" plugins, "Tecplot Files (VisIt)" (ASCII) and
"Tecplot Binary Files (VisIt)" (binary). No need to install any other
software, it should work out-of-the-box.
Please note that if your data is time-dependent, currently the only way
to process it is to use the "Tecplot Files" ASCII reader, because
neither VisIt plugins can handle time series. Hopefully, this issue will
be fixed in the next release (Sebastien Jourdain seems to be working on it).
If your data does not depend upon time, Paraview should do the job (I
successfully used all of the 3 readers). If you get an error, as Richard
suggested, you may try to clean up the headers or use a more recent
version of Tecplot (2011 and 2012 work for me).
