[Paraview] malloc error on Mac

Hi,
I am running ParaView 2.4.2 on a Mac G5 with OS X 10.4.6. I am able to 
read in a large data set (scalar field on ~10 million grid points), but 
when I try to display a surface I get the following error:

paraview-real(7207,0xa000ed98) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=173068288)

paraview-real(7207,0xa000ed98) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region
paraview-real(7207,0xa000ed98) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in 
szone_error to debug
Abort

The display command progresses to about 70% completion, at which point 
roughly 2.2+ Gb are being accessed. My assumption is that this is a 
limitation due to 32 bit, and I must run at 64 bit to succeed. Does this 
sound correct, and if so are there instructions for compiling ParaView 
to run 64 bit?
