Could you please tell me, what the reason is for the new and old way of use of the macros?

Is it a change regarding a particular vtk version?

If yes, please identify it.

I'm not sure of the reason. I believe the old way may still work, but there was certainly a particular commit in which the new way was enabled. I would ask this question on the mailing list, no one but me will see it here :) daviddoria 13:49, 24 August 2011 (EDT)

I'm using vtk 5.2.1 currently, that's why I ask here. Maybe the reason could be made obvious in the topic page?
