EC in vtkSNL

vtkSNL currently has no export control in it. As part of the ever changing landscape with Sandia's foreign national rules, we need to change vtkSNL access. Before placing any export control in vtkSNL, we need to make sure that any foreign national (without a greencard) with access has a Sandia FNR in place and a special software release established.

In the short term, no export control in vtkSNL. If there is something that might be export control, store it somewhere else for the time being.

Kitware does not want to put export control in vtkSNL at all. They have internal requirements where they can put no ec on a computer that cannot be locked away. Thus, they want to have a separate ec repository if necessary or, at a minimum, a separate directory in vtkSNL to put ec.

Deliverables

ParaView/Titan Chart Merger (Pat/Utkarsh)

Has bar chart and line chart working for ParaView.

Starting work on options dialog. After that, start trying it out.

Simplified Scripting (Berk/Utkarsh)

Looking at replacing array calculator with python-based calculator. Made some good progress. Does everything current calculator but also a lot more. Berk has 10-line calculator to do gradients.

Upcoming are some changes to allow you to references input properties without dereferencing output ports. There will also be improvements with proxy properties that have list domains.

Temporal Cleanup (Berk)

  • Show temporal bounds of all datasets in statistics view (or elsewhere)
  • Show continuous data set temporal bounds in info page
  • Plot/Probe over time, results should very in Sequence, Snap, and Real Time modes

Not started yet. John Biddiscombe has been looking at it.

Plots Along Curves (Berk)

Not started

VisIt AVT Integration (Burlen)

Have to decide what file formats we care about. Otherwise going well.

For now, going to only provide for windows/mac/linux builds to simplify. Will provide some Wiki instructions for building.

Have not yet done AMR data.

Working on parallel now.

Statistics (Phillipe)

Should be ready to go. Dave T. will send Berk/Utkarsh a list of filters to stick in.

Particle Support (Zhanping/John Biddiscombe)

  • Provide a particle representation that renders points more intelligently
    • Spheres with size vs. squares of pixel width
    • Optional sizing based on a scalar
    • Appropriate alpha blending (at least when particles are small)
    • Splatting?
  • Filters for meshless data? (Need to get customer requirements.)
    • Sampling point cloud?
    • Surface extraction?
