Summary | 0015159: Save Data doesn't have option to follow selection
Description | We should add the ability to only put out what shows in the spreadsheet view. * Linux, master, local server. * Open can.exo. Apply. * Split horizontal, spreadsheet view. * In the 3d window, select a cell. * In the spreadsheet view, only show selected cells. Feature - there should be a way, somehow, to only Save Data that which is in the spreadsheet view. Maybe make it optional in the Save Data dialog? After all, users may not be aware that this is just the output of the filter - some (including me just a few minutes ago) may think that they want to save what is in the spreadsheet view, not everything.

Alan, Have you tried "Export Scene"? "Save Data" will save the data produced by the data-source irrespective of what's shown in the view. This is true for render view too...even though one's looking at the "outline" of a dataset, for example, "Save Data" will save the full 3D dataset. "Export Scene", on the other hand, should be used to save data shown in the view. For spreadsheet view, that'd indeed mean save the data shown in the view. Note "Export Scene" was once called "Export View", but I believe it was changed to be "Export Scene" following some user feedback on your end. |

Feel free to push back to "backlog" is solution is not acceptable. |

User error on this bug. Utkarsh is correct. Basically, Save Data writes the output of a filter to a file. Export Scene saves the data in a view. Export scene is what was requested in this bug report. Closing. |
