0006949: 3D texture for interactive volume rendering
Currently, when loading binary data (most likely rectilinear), Paraview3 does not offer the choice of rendering the volume as OpenGL texture3d (i.e. vtkImageData)

This feature is useful to my work flow when I commonly pull in a binary (rectilinear) blob of data and need to have a quick overview of what I am looking at.

The currently available Volume Mapper does not have that quick/interactive choice.

Volume rendering of rectilinear grids is not supported, while that for image data is and you should be able to choose GPU or CPU volume rendering algos. Maybe this bug refers to aversion of ParaView that didn't support volume rendering for image data -- not sure.
