Summary0005887: Cannot read financial.vtk
DescriptionThere is a legacy VTK data file in the VTKData repository that cannot be read in by ParaView: VTKData/Data/financial.vtk. This data file has only field data. When you try to read it in, ParaView claims that it does not recognize it and asks for an appropriate reader.

Now that ParaView is starting to do things with field data, it makes sense that we should be able to read in this type of data.

It is not obvious how the pipeline should handle data without a geometric interpretation. For 3.6, we plan to visit tables and provide pipeline support for them. While we do that, we should also visit how to handle vtkDataSet with no geometry (if at all).

Not sure this is an important issue. Writing datasets with no geometry is rare now that we have vtkTable support.
