Summary0015477: For datasets with multiblock data, set blockColors Coloring as default
DescriptionFor datasets with more than one block, please make coloring by vtkBlockColors the default. Please make this option sticky, and remember whether the user changed it to solid color. Leave single blocks as we currently have them - color by solid color.

BTW, it's as sticky as any other coloring. In other words, if you split the view and create a show the dataset in that new view, it will again decide which scalar to color with and then it may pick vtkBlockColors even if you selected some other array in the earlier view.

Nice.

I did test another view, and it opened as Solid Color. I think that's OK - for users that open multiple views, they can change it.

Tested remote server, Linux, master.
