0012357: Surface representation crashes
Loading a 2d image dataset slice rep is used by default. This renders fairly quickly (a second or two). Switching to Surface rep however results in a long delay(a minute or two) followed by a crash. During the delay the memory usage shoots up (maybe due to use of display lists), however the crash is not due to an OOM condition. The following is logged in dmesg:

[1819339.522346] pvserver[4857]: segfault at 7f3c3a2dc000 ip 00007f3e38dd0087 sp 00007ffffe602488 error 4 in libc-2.11.1.so[7f3e38d49000+17a000]

This issue is only apparent with moderately large datasets, for example the dataset I am seeing this behavior has the following dimensions: nx=10240, ny=1, nz=2560. A small trivial dataset (nx=64, ny=64) doesn't cause the crash.

I can provide the data, but it's too large(300MB) to load here.

open the dataset, switch from slice to surface rep, crash
