0011234: crash with screenshots and cygwin
I believe that this is a cygwin crash. Colors are really wonky. Since this is only cygwin (I believe), and only combined screenshots, it doesn't need to hold the 3.8.1 release. It should be looked at, and preferably fixed, for 3.10.0.

3.8.1 RC1 codebase, built by me.
From a Windows, box, ssh -X into a Linux box using cygwin.
Start ParaView, client/ remote server. I used 4 servers (but it shouldn't matter.)
Open can.exo. All vars on. Apply.
Solid with edges.
Select a point.
Plot selection over time.
Screenshot. De-select the "Save only selected view" button. Finish.

About 2/3 of the time, it will crash - bringing down the cygwin X server.

I ran through this scenario 4 times for good measure and I am not able to reproduce any crash.

My Setup is as follows

My Windows machine
1. ssh -X using cygwin 1.7.7 xterm

Front end Linux machine
1. run paraview client
2. Client Server Connect to back end linux machine

Back end Linux machine
1. mpiexec -np 4./pvserser

All machines are using ParaView 3.9 master as of today.

It still fails for me. Let me update Cygwin, and find out it that helps. My cygwin is something like a year old.

Since no one else can replicate this, I am going to close. I don't know of other folks that use cygwin to get to a Linux box.
