0010968: Freeze Selection action in Find Data query dialog
One feature of importance that I see missing from the current Find Data query dialog box is a "freeze selection" action. I imagine a simple button that says Freeze Selection (or something better if you can think of it) that when clicked converts the current selection to an ID selection.

By default after you perform a query, the selected cells will change if you, for example, change the time and the queried fields change. That might be the desired behavior, but you might also desire to have those selected cells fixed and followed through time. To get the second case, a freeze selection button that converted the selection to IDs would do the trick.

When the selection is already an ID selection, the freeze selection button should be disabled.

Work on the Find Data dialog is important, and being ignored.

The branch named 10968_freeze_query_seln provides a way to "freeze" the current QUERY-based selection by converting it to an index-based (ID or GlobalID) selection. In this branch, the selection inspector properly converts a QUERY selection (i.e., one created using the Find Data dialog) into an indexed-based selection when the selection type is changed using the "Selection Type:" combo box. Previously, a new, blank index-based selection was created.

This bug has 2 merges (1 for each of Utkarsh's notes above) because I forgot to add the "Freeze" button to the Find Data dialog as part of the first topic branch. The second topic merge adds the button. For the record, the merges from next to master are

The second SHA above shows when the topic that adds the button was merged to master.

Talked to Utkarsh. We think this bug can be closed, but we will wait until another bug/feature gets resolved - allowing the interactive selection and the Find Data dialog to be tied together. To test, you should be able to do the following:

* Open can.exo.
* Select cells through.
* Edit/ Find Data/ Freeze Selection (button).

Moving to ToDo, waiting on the last note above. Basically need to add frustrum selections (and all selections, whether they come from the find data dialog or not).
