I just checked with Gradient of Unstructured data set and it is working fine with an analytic velocity field. Are you using a 2D or 3D grid? How big are the differences? I would assume the difference is in how the gradients are computed.

You can try using the Calculator filter to create a field like "coordsY*kHat+coordsZ*iHat+coordsY*iHat" which should result in a vorticity field of {1, 1, -1}. That's what I get for the output of both the Gradient of Unstructured DataSet and Compute Derivatives.
hello,

I'm trying to calculate the vorticity using the filters: Compute Derivative and Gradient of Unstructured data set, but it is not working, because when I compare it with Tecplot the results are different. Then I was wondering how I could calculate it and what would be the formula to calculate it using the python calculator or the calculator filter.
